a bit about me

inspired by the sea, the sky and mountains nearby...

"Art is an adventure into an unknown world, which can be explored only by those willing to take risks." --Mark Rothko

I have been lucky enough to have spent the last decade travelling the world, calling beautiful places such as New Zealand, Canada & Chamonix all home at some point. These stunning landscapes & incredible environments with their abundance of natural wildlife have been a constant source of inspiration for my art. I am now based on the rugged North Devon coastline, where I have made a little nest to call home with my husband and dog, just a little closer to family.

Many of my paintings focus on the detail; finding the perfect balance between the movement of tumbling white froth and glassy aqua faces within a wave, capturing the array of colours during sunset that reflect on the wet sand creating abstract shapes, or finding the perfect pink hue of Alpine glow on a mountain range; I will never grow tired of trying to imitate the beauty I find in these environments.

For larger work my preferred media is acrylic paint and modelling paste on canvas, I find this enables me to portray texture and colour quickly. I especially love to use pieces of wood as a canvas, the grains of wood are already there making their own image, I am simply adding to their picture and enhancing what is already there.

A lot of my new work has been using watercolour, I find these aren't as forgiving as acrylics, every stroke made has to be thought about, once it's on the paper that's it! I make the general hint of the shapes then enhance these with ink, bringing out detail and shading . I'm especially enjoying creating little animal characters, something a bit light hearted and fun!

I currently have work on sale at the 'New Gallery' in Woolacombe, and usually take part in various Christmas artisan markets based around Devon & Cornwall. I am always available for commissions., please see the menu besied for more information.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my site, I am always creating new things & ideas, my newest one being beeswax wraps! For more info follow the menu bar on the left. Thank you lovey human beings x

"Rock and roll is fun but if you ever hear someone

Say you are huge look at the moon, look at the stars, look at the sun

Look at the ocean and the desert and the mountains and the sky

Say I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye" Kimya Dawson song lyrics from 'I like Giants' album: "Remember That I Love You" (2006)
