a bit about me
"Art is an adventure into an unknown world, which can be explored only by those willing to take risks." --Mark Rothko
I have been fortunate to have spent the last decade travelling the world, calling beautiful places such as New Zealand, BC Canada & Chamonix in the french Alps all home at some point. These stunning landscapes with their abundance of natural wildlife have been a constant source of inspiration for my art. Now based on the rugged North Devon coastline, I have made a little nest to call home with my husband and dogs, just a little closer to family, but still hear the calls of the wild...
Many of my paintings focus on the detail; finding the perfect balance between the movement of tumbling white foam and glassy aqua faces within a wave, the array of colours reflected on the wet sand during sunset creating abstract shapes, or finding the perfect pink hue of Alpine glow on a mountain range. I will never grow tired of endlessly starring at these shows put on by Mother Nature they are forever imprinted in my mind, but try as I might, they shift each time, creating another challenge to re-imagine using my hands, eyes and memories...
I enjoy working with a variety of mediums, each one offers something completely different, just like music, there's something to suit each mood; oils for a slow paced thinking piece- acrylics, think big think quick- watercolour & ink for loose, playful brushstrokes -gold leaf to add that extra dimension.

"Rock and roll is fun but if you ever hear someone
Say you are huge look at the moon, look at the stars, look at the sun
Look at the ocean and the desert and the mountains and the sky
Say I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye" Kimya Dawson song lyrics from 'I like Giants' album: "Remember That I Love You" (2006)
